Pick the method that fits

Three ways to close.

Every Clever closing supports all three. Your client picks what works.

In-person

At a Clever Closings office or your title office. Traditional sit-down with a notary. Best for clients who want the ceremony.

Mobile notary

A notary comes to your client's home or chosen location. Common for elderly or busy clients. Available in most metros.

Remote online

Video signing from anywhere. ID-verified. Recorded. Closed in 30 minutes. Best for travelers, second-home buyers, military deployments.

FAQ

Common questions.

Is RON legally valid in my state?

RON is recognized in most US states, with rules varying by jurisdiction. Some states require the notary to be licensed in the state where the property is located. Your closer will confirm RON eligibility for your specific transaction on the first call.

Is the session recorded?

Yes. RON sessions are recorded and securely stored as part of the notary's journal, per state requirements. The recording is your protection — and the notary's — if anyone ever questions whether the signing was valid.

Can my lender accept RON-signed documents?

Most major lenders accept RON-signed loan documents in RON-approved states. A small number of lenders or loan products may require in-person or mobile notary signing. We confirm with your lender before the appointment so there are no surprises.

How is my identity verified?

Two layers. First, you upload and scan your government-issued ID, which is checked against trusted databases. Second, you answer knowledge-based authentication questions drawn from public records. Both must pass before the session begins.
